Akismet – Love It Or Hate It

September 27, 2009 · Posted in Akismet, Blogging · 14 Comments

Remember back in the day when bloggers had trouble optimizing to accept there comments because your inbox was filled with over 1,000 spam comments. Those were the days, and we all remember them so easily. Sometimes it would take over a whole week to delete all of those unwanted comments. Spammers would leave a ton of links on a page to increase there search engine rankings. It’s so funny because in those early years we didn’t know exactly what they were so of course we would delete them all to keep our websites, also known as blogs from looking like trash or subsequently penalized for inheriting links on our blogs, therefore renaming us as link farms. Actually, this really helped a lot of blogs bring in tons of traffic form different sources. Then came Wordpress bringing the solution to many problems we have with comments not to mention a hindering problem let me explain what I mean.

To Hate Akismet (The Hindering Problem)

We all know linking out to many websites, and blogs are one of the best ways for us to rank high on the search engines. Individuals who work at home have the grand opportunity to build real business ranging in different markets of there expertise. Building blogs, and selling products of these blogs are some of the best benefits you can hold in the field of online business ventures. One of the greatest ways in history of online marketing is SEO (Search Engine Optimization) which is not the only way to gain traffic on a blog, but a free way to take advantage of what’s hot on the market in helping people find what they need at the same time target that particular market with keywords. Backlinks are a big part of the factor of making it to the top of the search engines for your keyword through anchored text links.

Commenting on blogs is a supreme strategy for gaining backlinks. In a way, this is an unethical way of gaining backlinks because many know the idea or reason for some comments you post on there blogs, especially if you are using a keyword. Commenting on hosted wordpress blogs are cool, but if you use your keywords for a link back to your blog a little bit too much you will get caught by Wordpress Akismet only if it is enabled by the administrator of the blog, and mark you as spam. This will cause your comment to get blocked for any kind of Wordpress hosted blog that is Akismet enabled for a number of weeks sometimes for good.

The thing is…..not all comments are just the benefit for search engine increments for your keyword, but some really do use real comments at the same time gain a real benefit from volunteering in a conversation. Although this is a good way to build links for a blog it will be wise to look into different techniques in link building not just because your comment will fall into the Akismet spam filter eventually, but to expand your ideas on how to look for quality links.

To Love Akismet

Akismet is a wonderful tool to have enabled on your blog for a administrator point of view. With Akismet enabled individuals would now have the ability to block unwelcome comments by spammers that only leave links in the post. There have been wonderful reports that the software has blocked hundreds of thousands of spam comments from different blogs. The great feature about Akismet is everything is done automatically without your preservation which saves you a ton of time of to do other important things than worry about deleting spam. The software does it for you by detecting possible comments that may be spam. The comments that pass the parameters of Akismet can pass through either to moderate status or instant approval depending on the administrator. Akismet has it’s good and bad points, overall Wordpress has provided us with a solution to stop spam.

The Database Manager Plugin For Work At Home Bloggers

September 21, 2009 · Posted in Database Manager, Web Hosting · 28 Comments

I know how it is to create content for our websites and blogs, especially for people who are work at home for a living it can be really tough to keep up with the online sphere and create content at the same time. Usually we use our talents to make this content come true for our readers, but we don’t want to loose what we have just created so there is only one opposition for the matter to keep our content we create, and that is keep the post we have just published on our blogs on notepad, or wordpad so we don’t loose track just in case our website or blog has crashed for any reason, for example, viruses from unidentified resources. This alone can be a huge problem for those who has security risk on their computer, or is leaving tracks.

The Database Plugin(dbmanager plugin)

One of the best thing’s that ever happened for the web is Wordpress blogs. Wordpress blogs are always updated. There are new versions to keep security risk up to date, and the latest plugins are added for you to check out. Wordpress allows for you to upload plugins to enhance the usability of you wordpress blog, therefore making it author-friendly for you to use. Many people use wordpad, and notepad to keep their post at hand just in case they loose website content so these are copied and paste to wordpad, or notepad which is provided by default via Microsoft Windows. As a matter of fact, I would continue doing this although the awesome Database Plugin has arrived.

The Database Plugin is for all bloggers. You no longer have to login to your hosting account to change tables around or optimize them for anything. You now can do this from the comfort of your dashboard. Just like I said before Wordpress is the greatest, and it allows you to use the hosted platform freely to your ability. In the case of the Database Manager Plugin(dbmanager plugin), not only can you optimize you tables, and delete, or keep them….you can also back up all your tables, and save them for a download. What this means is you will save all you blog’s content, post, and comments on a file that will be downloaded to your computer using the dbmanager plugin.

Why is this important? Imagine creating 1,000 post over a three year period time. All of a sudden, everything you have created is erased incidentally, or someone has broken pass your security only to have erased all your hard work. Sure, copying and pasting is a good way to keep all the work you have created over the years, but who wants to post back 1,000 articles when all you have to do is download a file using your database manager plugin, and then uploading it through phpMyadmin on you hosting account if you have cpanel or mysql following a few steps to upload you database. My advice to you is go ahead and download the Database Manager Plugin, enjoy.

Social Network Scripts – For Work At Home Entrepreneurs

For a couple years now I have been looking into social networks. I hear the same thing going around about chances on meeting new people, building applications, video and other things a social network acquires. In these days in time you can have your very own social network from individuals who offers free open source software. This is becoming a most common trend……I mean…..who would pass up the chance to there very own social network, or even bookmarking website, and have the chance your to gain members right. How in the world can you find software that offers free open source code for people to use similar to Youtube, Facebook, Digg, Myspace and even the now famous Twitter. Being that I work at home part-time I took the day, and looked into the matter myself, and found a couple websites that offers this type of software. If you are tech-savvy then these will be awesome for you. Although open source is cool to have the quality can be poor at times. Editing the software for better security would be wise. In saying this, some websites using these scripts have been compromised so use with care if you decide to install them on your host. Be the next Tom, Jake, or whoever you want to be now, enjoy!

Pligg

I am fascinated with the Pligg script because it has one of the best platforms I have ever seen for cloning the famous website Digg. Digg.com is the website where people submit the newest stories that may haven’t hit the news yet. Once the story is submitted, members of Digg like you and me are able to vote on those stories. Most of the time if the stories are shocking enough more and more people will vote the story which will cause it to make the frontpage of Digg causing the website that made the frontpage receive tons of web traffic.

For your Pligg website you have to do a deal of editing the code if you want a unique radical web design. What I hate about Pligg’s default script is you can’t direct link to the page of other blogs once a story is submitted, but just like I said before with a little technical advancements towards this great script you will have a story voting website up in no time. Play with it first, and test, test, test before you go live with it.

PHP motion

YouTube is a video sharing network where people all over the world like many other video websites come and share videos ranging from news, home videos, and much much more to anyone, and everyone watching. There are tons of video scripts out there today. Back when Youtube debut a couple years ago many software engineers looked deeper into the new technology, and finally made open source software for people who wanted to own there own video sharing network. Now there’s thousands out there that are growing video sharing websites. PHPmotion is a very good example of the Youtube bonanza script because it looks exactly the same. With a little computer web design, and programming skills you can have a video website better than the famous Youtube.

PHP Fox & Boonex

The leaders, and the starters of social habits are of course Myspace and Facebook. Many people have claimed that they wanted to start networks similar to these before they came out with Myspace, but didn’t. Myspace and facebook are places where people meet, and friends keep in contact with one another. A lot of drama and controversy has stemmed from these websites….imagine that. One piece of software can cause an national uproar. With video, layout graphics, pictures, applications and an imagination from beyond this world people become members of these social networks, and become very active, PHP Fox and Boonex are no exception. I don’t know about acquiring applications, but all other things, such as videos, pictures are definitely identical mirrored to these scripts. With a little programming, and web designing you will have a running fully functional social network up in no time.

Revou

Okay, I admit! I’m not a total Twitter fan, but that don’t stop the fact people are flocking to Twitter like no other. Twitter is a sort of microblogging website for people to keep in touch with friends, and also keep there friends updated on what they are doing at that moment and time…..who cares what you are doing, right? Wrong! It’s obvious many people care otherwise Twitter wouldn’t be used by so many people. Even movie stars Demi Moore, Ashton Kutcher, and billionaire Oprah Winfrey uses Twitter. Revou is the script you would want to buy to emulate the Twitter software if you are interested in building a what are you doing community, enjoy.

So why am I telling you this? Believe it or not this is another way for you to keep your readers interested in your business in a way. Everyone who is associated in your niche can communicate with one another, at the same time keeping your website active. Create a domain pertaining the niche you are in right now, and build features. If you can offer them something or add to these scripts that aren’t being offered to these original online communities, for instance, Facebook was the first ones to offer software engineers to build small applications for the members to use. These ordinary guys, and girls who built these applications earned millions of dollars. Sooner or later Myspace started offering/enabling the same exact thing on there social network because they knew it was going to be the next best thing in social networks. If you can come up with an idea to add to your socaial network scripts above the run with it.

Flipping Websites – The New Real Estate Online

September 15, 2009 · Posted in Search Engines, Sell Biz, Work At Home Jobs, bing · 17 Comments

For years people would buy property, such as houses, and buildings just to resell them to the public for profit. Back in the 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s even the 80s you could buy property so cheap that it wouldn’t take much to own within time. If you could prove that you have the income to buy a $10,000 dollar house to a bank then the house will literally be yours because property was so cheap then. Given time people could actually sell there property for a healthy profit. For a person that is wealthy in those days it wouldn’t cost them nothing to obtain. Real Estate has created billionaires, for example Donald Trump, who owns many Hotels, and property in New York City. Today, real estate has turned virtual, and many are profiting from this new turn in opportunity.

Online real estate is actually called Virtual Real estate. This is a new form of making money only it is you are required to work at home on your computer, office, or beach….home is better though :-) Just like housing real estate, virtual real estate needs to grow, and build into something worth selling. Buying a new domain with an idea, building popularity, Backlinks, content, trust, and proving that it really can make money online takes time. It can be a short time or a long time it all depends on your dedication to make things work.

Buying A Domain

There is nothing to buying a new domain. All you need to know is where to find a great host. I would prefer a host such as, Dreamhost.com because it offers great scripts, such as the famous one button press Wordpress installation. Dedicated hosting is also offered in Dreamhost.com which is awesome if you are expecting tons of web traffic.

Idea/Niche

It will be wise to have a plan on what you will like to present to the web. Whether it’s creating web applications, or offering a video game subscription service. Supplying a need is what the internet is all about. People come online for information so you will definitely find something to give to the world out there worth looking into or supplying a searchable need to individuals.

Build Backinks

If you haven’t figured out the true source of traffic then you don’t understand the magic of the search engines. The search engines like Google, Yahoo, and Bing are the top search engines you should want to look for major traffic at this time. Following the tips on my later blog post you could find some useful information on finding links, using anchored keyword terms, and search engine optimization for the top search engines out there. Backlinks are the backbone, and very important of a website to succeed in the search engine world. If you can manage to get a few top positions this will guarantee a chance for you to sell you website, but why would you when you are making so much money :-)

Popularity

Popularity works well! Providing something new on the internet, particularly in the tech field specifically, you could create something a company could use, for instance, Google has Feedburner in there arsenal. Someone built it, and Google seen that they really need the software so they bought it from the creators. You don’t necessarily need to be a tech person. You could also be an ordinary blogger that is focused on something needing to the public, such as hand purses. You may attract an audience of women that want to buy hand purses. Once a business sees this huge traffic for demand of hand purses then there’s a close chance they want to buy your virtual real estate.

Prove To Be Profitable

What’s a business if it isn’t making any money right? Before anybody buys your business they want to know if it can profit a significant amount of money. Give yourself a year or two, and see how much you can generate in income from your online business. For instance, if you generate about $500,000 dollars online a year I would sell for $1.5 million. If I make $10,000 a year then I would sell for $30,000. Virtual Real Estate usually sells three times of how much you make a year so I keep it close or less for a reasonable sale.

Where To Sell My Biz

This is the question most people ask all the time, but it’s actually pretty simple. I would go to sitesell.com or Digitalpoint.com. You may have to go through more advanced resources for bigger buyers all depends on the demand and quality of the website you are selling, but they are out there.

Until Then My Friends,
Happy Selling,

The True Mastery Of Blogging

September 6, 2009 · Posted in Blogging, google · 19 Comments

I remember the days when I used to think about being number 1 in Google search engine what a joy that would do for me, my business, family, and the people I could help along the way. I really enjoyed watching many blogs grow. For instance John Chow blog is one of the greatest successful blogs out there right now, and who can forget Shoemoney. From scratch these guys built a huge name for themselves, and trust from there readers. This shows you a true fact in life. The fact is you can draw more bees with honey than you ever will with vinegar. All these guys did was brand themselves, and posted about things that either made sense or helped readers who was looking for what they are talking about. Right now the job economy is down, and most of us online are either work at home entrepreneurs or searching for the opportunity/ideas to make tons of money online.

Understanding

Just like I said before making a name for yourself is actually a good thing to become successful anywhere, such as online or offline it doesn’t matter. A good name goes a far way. It just takes time in building your name unless some big event is happening then you will want to be in the limelight of exposure. The two gentlemen above who I describe didn’t only build a business from trust and branding, but they got in when the getting was good. Blogging isn’t old, but the idea of blogging has aged a little bit, and timing was on there side.

Follow Before You Can Lead

While it is true to be unique and come up with your own ideas. I think it makes sense to learn what others are doing to succeed which is what most of us are doing now. Working with what is provided to us at the time is what we need right now. Innovation comes along after you have done the work so don’t feel bad if you haven’t came up with something new to go along with the blogging platform. We have tons of talents buried in our minds so take it one day at a time.

Post Often As You Can

This is one of those things I have as a blogger which is why I’m not a master blogger at the time. Blogging is define mainly by people posting the latest updates on different subjects or ideas. If you don’t post more you will loose readers, and some may unsubscribe from you RSS reader. So it would be very important for you to post twice a week at least, yes, this is definitely a need in my personal category. + Google will see your latest post, and there’s a possibility this may increase your rankings. Remember, although anchored links rule Google still looks at the content you are providing for your readers which could result in increments. Choose the route of being unique and you be impressed with the positive feedback you will get, creation ownz.

Building Relationships = Possible Links(Don’t Be Shy)

Sometimes meeting new people is hard, I mean really hard because you don’t know how people react on your approach, but actually if you know what to do it really is easy. For instance, people come onto my blog and comment, and mostly everyone is very kind-heart individuals. These people that are really easy going, and the type I wouldn’t mind doing business with, such as trading links with them if they have a descent blog, or other ventures if the timing is right. Understanding your readers, and them understanding you will consult in a accurate relationship. Keep a open mind on there opinions on each subject, and reply to each question with ease.

As you can see the mastery of blogging isn’t much of a hassle to overcome. It could be a lot more to you here than what I have posted above or lesser. All depends on what are your goals, and what you call becoming a master blogger. What do you guys think on the subject?
